“Life is a great big canvas,
and you should throw all
the paint on it you can.”
Moving into a new home, milestone birthdays, entering a new stage in life, graduating, opening a business…
In our busy lives, we often downplay these special moments as ordinary. But these are the moments that herald big changes in the life of the individual. They deserve to be marked and celebrated.
These are everyday changes, but they don’t happen to YOU everyday.
Rituals are our way of honoring important life passages. Celebrating these events connects us to our spiritual side and brings us together as a community.
Some of the ceremonies that we can create together include:
Becoming a Parent
This is perhaps one of the most defining moments of a life. Formally noting and celebrating this event is a powerful experience. This is your opportunity to tell the world (or just yourself ) what your deepest emotions and dreams are for this new arrival.
When a new child comes into the family through birth or adoption, a formal welcoming ceremony is a beautiful way of interlacing his or her distinct personality and spirit into the family.
Home Blessings and Housewarmings
These type of ceremonies send the message to yourself, your family and your community that a significant change is taking place, and that this change truly matters. The tone of a housewarming ceremony can vary from "spiritual," to interfaith to entirely secular, and can incorporate elements from many housewarming traditions.
Family & Coming of Age
Whether it is the transition from child to teenager, from teenager to young adult, becoming a parent or an "elder," every culture has a set of ceremonies or ritual acts that announce significant new stages along life's path. I help create family and community ceremonies where these transitions are acknowledged, celebrated and revered.
The Empty Nest
When children leave the home for college or their own homes, it marks a significant life change for the parents and the life of the home as well as for the children. Together we can create a ceremony that acknowledges this emotional transition and which help prepare a path for new possibilities to emerge.
The possibilities are endless. If you have an idea for a ceremony or have an occasion that you believe needs to be celebrated or marked, let’s talk, I know together we can create a ceremony that speaks to the moment. A ceremony that tells your story. A ceremony that is “waiting to be told.”
